🌷

The world-famous Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar is all set to open for visitors from March 16, 2026, marking the arrival of the spring season in Kashmir. Known as Asia’s largest tulip garden, the garden becomes one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Jammu & Kashmir every year during the blooming period.

Located at the foothills of the majestic Zabarwan mountain range and overlooking the picturesque Dal Lake, the garden offers a breathtaking view of colorful tulip fields spread across multiple terraces. The natural beauty of Kashmir combined with millions of blooming tulips creates a mesmerizing landscape that attracts tourists, photographers, and nature lovers from across the country and around the world.

Spread over nearly 30 hectares of land, the garden features more than 1.5 million tulips of different varieties and colors, including red, yellow, pink, purple, orange, and white. Apart from tulips, visitors can also witness other beautiful spring flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths, and ranunculus, making the garden a vibrant hub of floral diversity during the spring season.

The opening of the garden also marks the beginning of the annual Tulip Festival, which is organized to celebrate the beauty of Kashmir’s spring and to promote tourism in the region. During the festival, visitors can enjoy cultural programs, traditional Kashmiri music, handicraft exhibitions, and local cuisine, giving tourists a complete experience of the rich culture and heritage of Jammu & Kashmir.

Every year, thousands of tourists visit Srinagar during March and April to witness the breathtaking tulip bloom. The garden is usually open to the public for a limited period depending on the blooming season, which typically lasts three to four weeks. During this time, the garden becomes one of the most photographed places in Kashmir.

Authorities have made special arrangements this year to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for visitors. Facilities such as proper parking areas, ticket counters, security arrangements, and visitor management systems have been put in place to handle the large number of tourists expected during the opening weeks.

The opening of the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden not only marks the beginning of the tourism season in Kashmir but also highlights the natural beauty and charm of the Valley during spring. The vibrant tulip bloom against the backdrop of the Zabarwan mountains and the serene waters of Dal Lake offers visitors a truly unforgettable experience.

Tourists planning to visit Srinagar during this time are advised to plan their trips early to witness the stunning tulip bloom and enjoy the pleasant spring weather of Kashmir.
